Positions/Jobs in an FLL Team
Team members wear a lot of hats. The jobs that need to be overseen are varied and range from technical to dramatic - mechanical to documentary.

Researching – Gather information about the Challenge theme, related real-world problems, and existing solutions. Interview professionals to share their knowledge with the team.
Presenting – Design a creative presentation to show the judges your team’s work on the Project. Building – Make decisions about building and work to form consensus on the mechanical design of the robot among team members. Programming – Make decisions about programming and form consensus on programming for the robot. Strategy Analysis – Analyze the challenge and field and brainstorm ways to do the missions. |
Robot Operators (minimum of 2) – Operate the robot at a tournament. Two robot operators are permitted at the playing field at any given time.
Project Management – Get everyone focused, make sure everyone’s ideas are heard, find compromises, and keep everyone on schedule with a timeline. Quality Control – Conduct independent tests of the robot’s performance and recommend improvements. Marketing – Design and create the team logo, T-shirt or banner. Write an article for the school and local newspaper about the team. Documentation – Record and document the team’s thoughts, actions, failures, and successes in a journal, scrapbook, video, etc. to display at events. |
